Case stories

Chair for hospitals

Solacia is the newly developed series of resting chairs, particularly suitable for the Care sector. The chairs have been developed via user-driven innovation in a close cooperation between Gentofte Hospital, users, Magnus Olesen and the designer Lone Storgaard from Design Concern. Solacia has a clear and stringent design, with comfortably slightly rounded shapes both in the upholstery and in the wooden armrests, adapted to users, who will sit in the chairs for longer periods of time to rest. The chair is available with 3 heights of back – the highest version has a tilting mechanism to regulate the back tilt up to 12° and a detach-able neck support. A footstool, also with tilting mechanism, and urinary cover and detachable seat cover in the seat cushions are available. Learn more

Digital microscope makes the day

Product design Tagarno, a family owned Danish company, has developed outstanding optical solutions for both the private and public sector for the past 40 years. Tagarno asked DESIGN CONCERN to design the new digital microscope, Magnus HD Trend together with their development team. The digital microscope has a dynamic L-shape that permits easy access to the control buttons. Combining high tech optical solutions with attractive and user-friendly design, the product received the American NPI Award. The product also received the Russian Seal of Excellence for best new measurement equipment, by the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology. The awards help generate attention on both the American and Russian healthcare markets, and unlock new export potentials. In addition, it helps professional healthcare employees to an easier working day. Who said that design doesn´t pay? Learn more

Appetite for digital service innovation

In close cooperation with Holstebro Municipality and The Danish Design Centre, DESIGN CONCERN contributed to solve one of the big welfare challenges: To ensure that senior citizens get nutrient-rich and appetizing food delivered from the local authority when they are no longer able to cook themselves. The challenge was to reduce time from ordering to delivery and to improve the user experience. DESIGN CONCERNs design-driven innovation process involved senior citizens, drivers, kitchen staff and management teams, programmers and designers. The process featured interviews, user observations, workshops, design and testing of tablet interfaces, programming and final user tests. The result was a user-friendly tablet based ordering system where drivers can easily obtain and deliver orders for senior citizens in the municipality. The intuitive user interface ensures easy registration of online orders, minimize incorrect orders, and result in pleased employees and happy senior citizens. Learn more
