French decision-makers find inspiration in the Danish Healthcare Transformation

On February 3-6, 2020, decision-makers from the French healthcare sector visited Denmark to gain insight into the Danish hospital construction projects, E-health, and mental health.

On the first day of the visit, the delegates started the program with an introduction to the Danish outpatient strategy and new hospital construction projects at the venue of Danish Regions. This visit also included introductions to E-health and Danish health promotion.

The busy delegation program included visits to SDSI (Health Innovation Centre of Southern Denmark), and Telepsychiatric Centre in the Region of Southern Denmark. These visits gave insight into innovative solutions, prevention and early detection. At SDSI, the visitors received a guided tour of the facilities and were introduced to how the Centre works with innovation. Here, they also met with a representative from Steno Diabetes Center. At the Telepsychiatric Centre, the French delegation learned how the center promotes the use of telepsychiatry and e-mental health to improve the quality and accessibility of care for people with mental health problems. This visit also included an introduction to public private partnerships focusing on audiovisual stimulation by Danish company Wavecare.

Furthermore, the delegation visited OUH (Odense University Hospital), where the transition towards the New OUH in 2022 was presented. Here, the delegates learned about the digitization of communication between nurses and hospital porters by Danish company Systematic, and they were also introduced to the telemedicine service for parents of premature children.

The program also included visits to the Danish Association of GPs (PLO), and BørneRiget - the future Children’s Hospital in Copenhagen, which will set new standards for innovation in treatment of children, adolescents, and pregnant women.

The visit was organized and hosted by Healthcare DENMARK in close collaboration with the Royal Danish Embassy in Paris. For more information about this visit, please contact Deputy Director Anne Smetana.
