Following positive response on their birthmark scanning app, Danish-Serbian company, Teleskin, looks to expand internationally.

The Danish-Serbian high-tech venture and app developer, Teleskin, prepares to launch their app internationally following six very successful months in Denmark. Teleskin has developed the app Skinscan, which can scan birthmarks for indications of cancer or other abnormal growth. Currently, more than 40.000 Danes have downloaded the Skinscan app and performed more than 55.000 scans.

The app is very simple to use. Users take a picture of their birthmark with their phone. Based on advanced proprietary technology, the app can determine whether their birthmark looks typical or atypical. A skin specialist is also available to offer opinion and advice. The app utilizes an algorithm based on 65.000 pictures of healthy and abnormal birthmarks from dermatology clinics and tele-dermatological consultations. It is developed as a tool for prevention and supervision, and by using the app users learn to recognize healthy birthmarks from abnormal ones.

In 2013, Teleskin won Next Step Challenge and a cash prize of €268.000 ($292.000) followed by a €803.000 ($876.000) investment from Seed Capital.
