New technical training center at Odense University Hospital, Denmark, enables healthcare professionals to practice virtual surgery before performing the actual operation on patients.

On August 23, 2016, Odense University Hospital, Denmark, inaugurated a new technical training center, which enables healthcare professionals to practice virtual surgery on a special simulator before performing the actual operation on patients. This is a big step forward for patient safety and provides better learning for doctors as the new equipment enables them to be trained before they perform examinations and operations on patients for the first time.

By using the virtual simulator, doctors and eventually other healthcare professionals will be able to train all kinds of surgery such as arthroscopy of the knee, surgery for broken hips, endoscopic examinations of the respiratory tract, abdomen, intestines and stomach, as well as advanced operations on the internal organs like the heart and brain.
