The visit started with an introduction to the Danish healthcare system focusing on challenges and initiatives. Furthermore, the delegates learned about how Denmark has managed to reduce average length of stay in Danish hospitals, and the status of the new hospital construction projects.
Afterwards, the delegation visited The Agency for Digitisation, and learned about the TeleCare North project, a large scale project which has shown that telemedicine for patients with COPD has both financial and health effects. Experiences from the project have formed the basis for the national dissemination of telemedicine.
In the afternoon, the delegates visited the Danish Ministry of Health, where they were introduced to the role of the general practitioner in the future healthcare system.
The delegation ended the visit at Rigshospitalet and got introduced to “Chemo at home”, which is a concept of home treatment for patients diagnosed with acute leukaemia.
The visit was organized and hosted by Healthcare DENMARK. For more information about this visit, please contact Deputy Director Anne Smetana.
