The German region, Thuringia, learns from the Danish hospital reform at well-attended conference in May.

In the end of May, BARMER GEK, a health insurance company in Germany with 8.5 million members, organized a conference in the city of Erfurt, Thuringia, focusing on the new Danish healthcare system and especially the investments in hospital infrastructure.

Denmark is currently building the most modern hospital system in Europe. Therefore, the Minister of Health of Thuringia, Ms. Heike Werner, looks to Denmark for inspiration on developing the new hospital reform of Thuringia.

The conference, "Wir machen es wie Dänemark?!", was therefore a great opportunity for knowledge exchange on the hospital reform in Denmark and included presentations by the Danish ambassador to Germany, Mr. Friis Arne Petersen, and CIO and acting director of Health Innovation Centre of Southern Denmark, Mr. Søren Lindgaard.

The Minister of Health of Thuringia, Ms. Heike Werner, and many hospital managers from the region attended the conference to learn about the changes in the Danish hospital sector.
