September 18, 2019
On September 18, 2019, a Royal Swedish delegation visited Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen to get insight of Danish hospital constructions and the new Children’s Hospital, Børneriget.

The delegation and guests of honor, His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, were welcomed by the Chairman of the Regional Council of the Capital Region of Denmark, and the CEO of Rigshospitalet.

Afterwards, the delegates listened to a presentation of the future Children’s Hospital, “Børneriget”, which will set new standards for innovation in the treatment of children, adolescents, pregnant women, and their families.

During a guided tour, the delegation learned about The New North Wing at Rigshospitalet, which will be built with, among other things, 33 modern operating theatres, an intensive care department, and outpatient departments.

After a short break, the New Super Hospitals project was presented. Here, the Health Technology Investments, the construction and design were discussed. Due to the increased focus on technological transformation of the Danish healthcare system, the delegates learned about how the New Rigshospital is part of the large modernization project, aiming to lift the quality of all of Denmark’s hospital services.

Rounding off the program was an introduction to innovation and new initiatives in The Capital Region of Denmark followed by a roundtable with Swedish participants.
