Danish elderly care in Singaporean television

A press delegation from Channel NewsAsia visited Denmark on a four-day press tour to report on the Danish elderly care sector.

A Singaporean press delegation from the Asian TV news channel, Channel NewsAsia, which broadcasts in 28 territories, visited Denmark on a press tour from November 1-November 4. The visit was facilitated by the Embassy of Denmark in Singapore and partially organized by Healthcare DENMARK. Healthcare DENMARK hosted the delegation during a full day’s program in Copenhagen on November 3.

The delegation was in Denmark to produce a four-part feature story about Danish elderly care concepts focusing on Nursing Homes, Living Labs, Ageing In Place/Dementia, and Work Force (elderly care staff) respectively. The feature is part of an effort to alter the conception of elderly care in Singapore, where the elderly care system struggles to hire carers.

During the program, the delegation visited a Living Lab in Copenhagen to learn about the Danish concept of co-creation in developing assisted living technologies. The visit also brought the delegation to Pilehuset, a nursing home specializing in care for citizens with dementia.

A trishaw ride through Copenhagen with the volunteer organization, Cycling Without Age, which helps elderly citizens get out on their bicycles, introduced the delegation to volunteer movements in Denmark.
