Gentofte and Herlev Hospital Expansion

June 16, 2021

On June 2, the newest expansion at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital was inaugurated by Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Denmark, marking the completion of a specially designed Acute Care Centre for children and families.

The Acute Care Centre is an expansion of Herlev and Gentofte Hospital which will specialize in the care of children and families with patient-focused facilities. The centre features MRI-scanners, CT-scanners, and X-rays in the front of the new and modern building to ensure effective medical check-ups and to direct patients to the correct specialist.

The expansion will feature almost 300 single patient rooms to accommodate both a parent and a child. The new facilities also include a garden that allows children and their siblings to enjoy playtime together despite the circumstances of being admitted to hospital.

The Acute Care Centre provides a safe environment for children and families by having specialists visiting the patient rooms directly to ensure the best treatment and care in the difficult and stressful situation of having an ill child.
