On November 21-25, 2016, a delegation of HR directors and managers from hospitals all over France visited Denmark to experience the Danish approach to HRM in hospitals across the country. The program focused on HRM in different hospital departments and included visits to hospitals in Aarhus, Odense, and Copenhagen.
The delegates spent three days in Aarhus, where they visited Aarhus University Hospital for an introduction to the Danish healthcare system and the roles and responsibilities of Danish hospitals. Part of the busy program were presentations on future requirements of the different hospital departments in terms of HRM including organization of the New University Hospital in Aarhus with a specific focus on skills, competencies, and postgraduate medical education of the employees. In addition, the delegates were introduced to the Danish approach to social dialogues in the healthcare sector with perspectives from the employer and the union.
In Odense, the delegates visited the emergency ward at Odense University Hospital to experience processes in practice, talk to employees, and get an understanding of different roles. Part of the program in Odense was also a visit to the Health Innovation Center of Southern Denmark.
The delegates ended their trip to Denmark by visiting Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen for an introduction to the organization of HR in the Capital Region including perspectives for the working environment and development of competencies and skills.
