After breakfast, the delegates started the program with an overall introduction to the Danish healthcare system, Danish hospital construction, and digitalization. Next, the delegation learned about experiences with cross-sectoral cooperation in The Capital Region of Denmark with a special focus on health agreements, the new agreement with GPs, plans for internships, etc.
Later, the delegates met with Jakob Uffelmann, Director of Innovation at Sundhed.dk, who introduced the delegates to the national Danish eHealth portal, Sundhed.dk. The eHealth portal is the official portal for the public Danish healthcare services and enables citizens and healthcare professionals to find information and communicate.
Jakob Uffelmann’s presentation was followed by an introduction and presentation about the Emergency Medical Services Copenhagen. Here, the delegates learned about the region’s emergency standby and the 24-hour medical helpline called “1813”, where the delegates were particularly impressed with the great reduction in waiting time compared to other countries.
Rounding off the Dutch delegation visit, a representative from the Center of Healthy Ageing talked about how to decrease preventable hospital admissions among elderly people through identification of risk factors that can be targeted through citizen, provider and system related strategies.
