Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs visits Denmark

October 20, 2016
A delegation from the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs visited Denmark for two days to explore the Danish social care system.

Estonia is currently looking into restructuring the social aid schemes and social care system to make it more efficient. To find inspiration for the new Estonian social system, a delegation of policy makers on governmental level from the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs visited Denmark on October 19-20, 2016, to learn about the social care systems in the Nordic countries.

The two-day program presented the delegates to Danish policies and initiatives in the areas of healthy ageing and elderly care, dementia care, rehabilitation, and care for citizens with psychiatric illnesses. Site visits to Living Lab Strandvejen and Copenhagen Healthtech Cluster gave the delegates an introduction to how Danish companies develop and test new assisted living technologies in collaboration with the end-users in realistic environments. During their visit to Copenhagen Healthtech Cluster, the delegates also met with Danish assisted living technology company, Guldmann.

The program also included a site visit to ‘Pilehuset’, a special daycare center for citizens suffering from dementia in Copenhagen. Estonia is facing an increasing number of people with dementia, but have no social care services designed for and directly focusing on this citizen group.

The delegation visit was organized and hosted by Healthcare DENMARK. For more information about this visit, please contact Senior Consultant, Tanja Staniok.

If you are interested in visiting Denmark and seeing these or other Danish healthcare solutions and initiatives yourself, please do not hesitate to request a visit. Healthcare DENMARK will tailor a program to your specific preferences and assist with planning local transportation and accommodation.
