International healthcare professionals explore WHINN 2019

November 21, 2019
On November 19, 2019, during WHINN (Week of Health and INNovation), international healthcare professionals from Korea, Norway, Germany, Canada, and Latvia visited Odense to find inspiration in Danish Hospital Innovation, Implementation, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The international delegates started their visit at Odense University Hospital (OUH) with a general presentation, where they learned more about the role of OUH as an important player in health innovation in Denmark and Europe, as well as the hospital’s work with innovation, prevention, and acute care. Afterwards, the delegation split into two groups, where one group went to the Emergency Department for an introduction to the innovative design and construction of the facilities. The second group got insight into the Steno Diabetes Center Odense and also learned more about the construction project of The New Odense University Hospital.

In the afternoon, the delegates visited the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics at University of Southern Denmark, where they learned more about how the department works with research, innovation, and scientific knowledge based upon studies of the human body, the musculoskeletal system, exercise, active living, and movement. Rounding off the day, the delegation went on a guided tour of the department and got introduced to prevention and rehabilitation initiatives including case examples within physiotherapy.

The visit was organized and hosted by Healthcare DENMARK. For more information about this visit, please contact Chief Consultant Anne Beck Henriksen.
