Latvia explores Danish integrated care and psychiatry

November 20, 2019
On November 20, 2019, government officials from Latvia visited Copenhagen and Slagelse to find inspiration in Danish integrated healthcare, digitalization, and inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care.

The visit started at the Danish Ministry of Health with a general introduction to the new psychiatry action plan, outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care, and how to create a coherent healthcare system.

Afterwards, the delegates visited the Psychiatric Hospital in Slagelse, which is one of the newest and most modern psychiatric hospitals in Denmark. Here, the visitors learned about mental health, chronic diseases, and the collaboration between Region Zealand and the municipalities. Next, the Latvian delegates received a guided tour to explore the facilities at the Psychiatric Department.

Rounding off the day, the delegation visited the Municipality of Copenhagen and learned about the coherent and citizen-centered healthcare system, the collaboration with The Capital Region, and the Danish perspective on digitalization in healthcare.

The visit was organized and hosted by Healthcare DENMARK. For more information about this visit, please contact Deputy Director Anne Smetana.
