New Danish nursing home designed especially for blind people

The construction of a new Danish nursing home specifically for blind and visually impaired citizens has started in Valby, in the Capital Region of Denmark.

In Valby, in the Capital Region of Denmark, the Mayor of Health and Care cut the first sod as work started on the new nursing home on March 1, 2017.

The nursing home is designed and arranged with the blind and visually impaired citizens’ special needs taken into consideration. Additionally, the nursing home will have competent staff and make use of welfare assisted living technologies to ease the everyday life of its residents. The nursing home will, e.g. incorporate a dog run for guide dogs.

Copenhagen Municipality has cooperated with the Danish Association of the Blind and AKB København, a non-profit housing organization, on the plans for the nursing home.

The nursing home will be constructed by NCC and is expected to be finished in 2019.
