OpenBIM Studio is a new way to experience building projects - long time before they are finished. Controlling the operation and maintenance of a building requires a database system that keeps track of all relevant building information. This amount of information is almost unmanageable if it is not bound graphically on the building drawings or a 3D model. Today, buildings are developed in collaboration with consultants using Building Information Models (BIM). In, operation and maintenance, it is the “information” part of these models that is important. ArchiFM is a BIM-based operation and maintenance system that imports all information from a BIM model as a basis for facility management.
OpenBIM Lab solves the problem of coordination and quality assurance. Complexity of the projects is one of the major challenges that face the construction industry today. Complexity leads to a growing demand for consultants to secure and coordinate their material at an early phase. OpenBIM Lab gathers information for an evaluation of the coordinated 3D models. The team decides upon the seriousness of the errors, gives them priority and decides who, when and how errors are to be addressed. The error report with the assembled information is shared over a web portal where the team can follow corrections.
The Panum building that houses the Health Sciences Faculty of the University of Copenhagen is under renovation. The Danish Building & Property Agency (BYGST) is responsible for the renovation. As part of the project developers had to provide a technical base for their consultants. BYGST required digitized drawings in form of 3D BIM models. The team behind the BIM survey consists of AI (architects and engineers), BIM Equity (technology consultants) and BIM Measurement (the provider of the measuring system).
