Melvin ApS develops robotic and automation solutions to the Danish welfare and healthcare system. With assistive technology and quality of life as focus points combined with knowledge of user-driven innovation, design, the human body and more than 30 years of experience with robotic technology the employees at Melvin ApS make a strong and qualified team. Our vision is to increase quality of life and welfare through personal freedom and independence.
MELVIN is a robot that supports and helps the user undress and dress when going to the toilet. Through the user-driven innovation MELVIN gives the user the freedom to go to the toilet, when the need arises – without any waiting and scheduled times. MELVIN makes the user completely or partially independent. Our innovative, assistive device is the result of a collaboration between Melvin ApS, the potential users, Aalborg Municipality and the Centre of Welfare Technology in Aalborg. MELVIN is adjusted to fit the individual user perfectly and is developed and designed to be integrated into any toilet space.
The concept behind MELVIN stems from demand from citizens in the home care system of Aalborg Municipality. They have requested a means for putting on and off their trousers when using the toilet. We have had many dialogues with the user as well as the caregivers. We wanted the perspective from the ones, who depend on daily assistance to use the toilet, and from the professionals, who several times a day help people with the issue. MELVIN helps people with the toilet visits and makes a self-sufficient life possible. MELVIN also helps the caregivers to e.g. avoid bad working postures. Learn more
